About The Role

Base Location: Havant or Reading

Salary: £64,291 - £78,474 + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Working for SSE’s Distributed Energy business, this role will be critical in transforming the way green energy is made available to the market. The main purpose of this Delivery Lead role is to manage the portfolio of Smart Platform projects that are being delivered into our Operational Technology Network as part of our Digital Services Value Stream.
  • You will be responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships up to Director level, and driving the execution of projects to meet our strategic objectives, targeted outcomes and capturing value.
  • You will be responsible for project managers, solution providers to meet these objectives, as well as being member of a team of delivery leads and project/programme managers that jointly will deliver on our ambitious programme of work to digitally transform the Distributed Energy business.
  • You will be responsible for delivery and governance of programme/projects to time, quality, and budget. This includes integrated planning of multi-dependant workstreams, organising, and controlling operational delivery of all projects within the portfolio, ensuring work is effectively allocated and delivered by an appropriate mix of business, digital and specialist team resources.
  • As a member of the Distributed Energy IT team, you will work with your peers in shaping the growth of a high performing team, you will be expected to coach, guide and consult your immediate team and, business and specialist teams, ensuring successful implementation of transformation projects and realisation of benefits.
What do I need?

To be considered for the role,
  • You will be able to demonstrate a track record of project/programme delivery, incorporating elements of business change, and delivered by multi-disciplined teams. Knowledge of and actual hands on experience of Agile and Lean Waterfall delivery methods is also expected.
    • Understanding of tools to support the management of Agile projects such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of project definition, including functional requirements and corresponding business processes, and the need for clear business cases, which identify benefits and how these will be demonstrated.
  • Similarly, you will demonstrate project delivery competence, including adherence to quality, cost and programme, and the application of governance at project and programme levels.
  • You will be able to demonstrate subject matter knowledge in the defined programme area, and a strong understanding of all Business Change disciplines and best practices.
    • IoT, Smart Cities, Smart Grids
    • The energy industry and utilities
Previous people management is essential, as is some experience of benchmarking techniques and best practice, stakeholder management and survey analysis, and the confidence to negotiate effectively at all levels.
