Advanced Mental Health Practitioner, Band 7 37.5 hours per week

West Berkshire Community Mental Health Team are looking for a dynamic and experienced mental health practitioner to join us in moving into an exciting period of development in mental health care in Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. A professional qualification of RMN, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist is essential.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced practitioners of many disciplines and benefit from collaborative working and supportive colleagues.

We will be welcoming and working closely with Mental Health Integrated Care Services (MHICS) in West Berkshire in the coming months. This will change the landscape of mental health provision in West Berks and allow us to ensure our client group has the right care at the right time. The introduction of these band 7 posts is to support development and management of pathways in our locality to ensure we are providing evidence based practice. Each post will lead in the development of a pathway.

The team works with people aged 18 and over who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health issues; helping them to manage their illnesses and symptoms and facilitating their recovery, engaging with families and carers and other agencies.
  • Work alongside the leadership team in managing aspects of the service and taking an active part with ongoing service development and pathways
  • Supervision and empowerment of staff
  • Close liaison with colleagues both in the team and with partner teams in BHFT
  • Close liaison with external agencies such as adult social care and third sector agencies
  • Supporting the service manager in operational tasks and clinical development
  • Being part of new initiatives and transformation

The 4 “must haves” for you to be considered for this role:
  • Degree/Diploma qualification in mental health nursing, social work or occupational therapy
  • Enthusiasm and passion for working with people with mental health difficulties
  • Be able to show initiative and critical thinking in relation toworkload
