We are looking for a dedicated and reliable person to join our team as an Administrative support worker driver

Our client is seeking an individual with a Full UK driving license with admin experience to provide assistance for a visually impaired Disability index Officer working for Cardiff Council. You must be flexible as shifts the client will be attending various locations during the working day and working alongside a Guidedog.

Duties will include:

  • Hand writing notes during meetings with service users, taking into account visual information about service users our client is unable to notice for themselves.
  • Read back hand-written notes to cross-reference with our clients mental notes and to compile all information into an accurate report.
  • Check over the formatting of our clients compiled reports, letters and materials (which their own assistive technology software is unable to detect – for example font changes, and changes in colour.)
  • Read aloud all paper information including referrals, case-notes and reports which are not available electronically.
  • Inputting data using internal IT systems/data-bases and filling in paper forms upon request.
  • Driving to meetings and other work-related events in and around the Cardiff area.
  • Engage with services users which include adults and children in a professional manor.
  • Route-planning.
  • Ensuring that you are both always kept safe by making a visual assessment of our clients surroundings; helping our client navigate unfamiliar environments and observe changes to the environment.
  • Provide sighted-guide during working including getting into/out of the office.

Person Specification

Essential criteria:

1. Have a valid UK driving license - Business insurance or willing to obtain.

2. Have a valid Enhanced DBS check or willing to allow for 1 to be obtained.

3. Admin experience.

4. GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.

5. Great ICT skills, including using the Microsoft Office package effectively to assist in the production of reports, posters and handouts.

6. Able to manage data input electronically and complete paper forms accurately.

7. Have excellent social skills and awareness with an ability to be observant and alert.

8. Able to exercise organisational skills, problem solving, initiative and the adaptive.

9. Have an appreciation and understanding of confidentiality under the Data Protection Act

10. Able to handle personal and sensitive data appropriately valuing every service user and work colleague respectfully, with empathy and a non-Judge mental manner.

11. Have a good understanding of safeguarding and your responsibilities.

Desirable criteria:

1. Experience working with disabled individuals or those with a visual impairment.

2. Any professional accreditation.

3. A geographical understanding of the Cardiff area.

Pay, Hours and Benefits:

In return for your work you will be paid £14.35 per hour with fuel costs reimbursed, where used within work.

Working days Monday – Wednesday. Up to 21 hours per week
