Thinking of a new challenging role to further your career?

Want to work in a setting where we all make a difference to pupils lives?

New River College can provide both.

Due to an internal promotion within the admin team, a vacancy has arisen. We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Administrative Officer who is looking for a new challenge and has a flexible approach, to join a committed team at New River College.

This role will contribute to developing the best possible provision and support for our pupils. The postholder will be required to:
  • act as a welcoming first point of contact for the school
  • process orders and payments
  • provide effective and confidential support to the Executive Headteacher
  • keep records around pupil data, including attendance and attainment
  • you will need to be confident, discrete, approachable and considerate in managing a wide range of queries from children, young people and their families, internal and external professionals and Islington schools
  • ability to engage children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and their parents/carers is essential
To be successful on this post, you do not need a school administration background, we are willing to organise training for the right candidate (we can show you how SIMS works, for example). We are looking for a person that is looking forward to a busy day, who wants to try new ideas and who genuinely wants to contribute to the lives of young people with drive and passion. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team across different departments, as well as have initiative to undertake tasks independently.

New River College comprises of three pupil referral units in Islington (primary, secondary and medical), for pupils with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH). We teach children and young people aged five to sixteen years’ old who have been permanently excluded or participate in our preventative programmes to address their behaviour, and children and young people with complex SEMH or medical needs. Many of our pupils are below national age-related literacy and numeracy levels when they arrive.
