The Additive Manufacturing Specialist will be responsible for empowering groups around the company in all key business areas, to realise the potential that Additive Manufacturing offers. They will do this by creating and identifying opportunities for AM use by introducing, increasing and utilising AM knowledge and understanding. Research and development activities will also be undertaken to test the feasibility of the technologies and materials for use in products for Bio-pharmaceutical applications. They will evaluate and select Sartorius parts/systems that are suitable for AM technologies including both new and existing parts. Some international travel will be required.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks
  • Support the development of bio-pharmaceutical products through knowledge of the performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function and customer needs
  • Ensure quality in a product’s design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and manufacturability
  • Ensure that parts identified for AM conform to the requirements/regulations of the bio-phamaceutical industry.
  • Support efforts to verify and validate new product designs and AM processes/materials
  • Apply AM to ensure that cost and design goals are met for project leaders in achievement of project objectives
  • Contribute as a team member on development projects carrying out assigned responsibilities in a timely, diligent, safe, and professional manner
  • Support the organization’s intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas that results from experimentation and concept generation activities
  • Ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally-friendly workplace by observing Company’s procedures and corresponding regulations
Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree in STEM subject preferred
  • Track record in working with a range of additive manufacturing technologies
  • Ability to work in a structured experimental manner
  • Able to identify, break down and solve a variety of difficult technical problems
  • Knowledge of quality assurances / regulatory affairs / quality management systems
  • Previous employment working in the automotive or aerospace industries would be an advantage
  • Posses a solid understanding of the product life cycle
  • Strong aptitude for devising hands-on engineering, testing and experimentation
  • Disciplined and well-organised
  • Have a proven track record in seeing work packages through to completion
  • Has previously worked with ISO requirements and other relevant guidelines and regulations
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Able to work with colleagues with a range of cultures
