LV= Life and Pensions have an excellent opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join the team on an FTC basis in Bournemouth. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone either looking to start their career as an actuary, or someone with limited experience looking to develop and learn new sills. It’s an exciting time to join LV= as we write the next chapter in our long history as a successful Life and Pensions business.


Your new role will be to contribute to the LV Group through the application of actuarial techniques so that regulatory requirements and the business needs are met and can be exceeded.

About you

Essential:

  • An excellent academic track record – a first or upper second in a mathematical/science/finance subject or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) membership
  • A basic knowledge of actuarial processes and systems
  • Attention to detail and a quality oriented mind-set
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • Proficient in Excel to an intermediate level is essential as a significant amount of work is spreadsheet based
  • An aptitude for mathematical calculations and computer programming

Desirable:

  • A fuller understanding of actuarial processes.
  • An understanding of Python and DCS modelling systems
  • An understanding of experience analysis methodology .


Details

  • To work with the team to ensure all experience analysis requirements are met on time, are free of material errors and have appropriate controls. The key deliverables for the team are the production of the results that feed the Life Experience Analysis Forum (LEAF) which recommends basis changes .
  • To contribute to the achievement of business objectives, by providing technical support to Actuaries and Senior Actuarial Analysts so that the regulatory requirements and the outcomes of the business plan are met and can be exceeded.
  • To set up experience analysis methodology and models to a specification provided or agreed by an Actuary or Senior Actuarial Analyst
  • To identify & propose possible improvements to systems, calculations and processes, and work with the team to ensure these are implemented
  • To liaise with data teams as appropriate to ensure that any data issues identified do not have a material impact on reporting requirements
  • To support the team user test any admin system or data changes and their impact on team processes
  • Contribute to the achievement of LV business objectives by assisting colleagues across the Group as required
