Actuarial Analyst
Location: Romford, UK
Permanent
Between 2-4 years of experience are required.
Must be eligible to work in the UK

Job Description:
• Support life and pension product calculation automation by testing system changes and creating non-workflow processes. Investigating potential calculation issues and calculating any redress that may be applicable to policyholders. Model actuarial calculations using Object Oriented Modelling.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Reviewing system specifications and test calculation functionality when necessary.
• Ensuring that non-workflow calculation processes are in place (e.g. develop spreadsheets etc.).
• Support for projects, e.g. calculation changes driven by the client or legislative requirements.
• System data analysis including specifying amendments to data to be carried out by the Data team
• Lead project whether sponsored by the department or other areas of the company, as required, e.g. calculation changes driven by the client or legislative requirements.
• Delivering accurate and compliant actuarial support to the Actuarial Production Service team BAU in order that they can at least achieve service standards
• To undertake tasks and duties within any other BS&S Actuarial area as required (with appropriate support given)
• To undertake any other duties as may be deemed appropriate by your Team Leader.
• Travel to different client locations to liaise and work with team members as necessary.

A) Essential:
• Programming experience (especially VB or VBA)
• Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
Qualifications:
• A-Level Maths (at least B-grade)

• Good team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to work well under pressure

Special Skills/ Knowledge:
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the technical aspects of Life and Pensions products and relate that knowledge to operational practices

B) Desirable:
Experience:
• Actuarial Analysis Experience within the UK Life and Pensions sector
Qualifications:
• BSc a Mathematical or Financial subject
• Part qualified Actuary
Personal Qualities:
• Able to be recognised as knowledgeable on specific issues by peers and is regularly consulted
• Provides advice on solutions to problems beyond the immediate area of work
Special Skills/ Knowledge:
• Development and testing of actuarial tools using .NET/VB6
