We are looking for a innovative individual to join our lovely team.The therapeutic activity coordinator will lead on developing a therapeutic activity programme, facilitating groups and individual interventions and activities to support patients in their recovery goals. The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, liaising closely with nursing and therapy staff to design person centered activities contributing positively to the emotional and psychological wellbeing of patients. Actively engage in and suggest changes to the ward that would enhance thepatient and carer experience. Promote calendar related activities and events i.e. national holidays, patronsaints day, dementia awareness week. To adhere to all Trust Human Resources Management policies and procedures Develop expert skills in a range of distraction and participation therapies, and actas a resource for ward based staff to develop their knowledge and skills. Support the development of the ward activity volunteer role, sharing knowledgeand skills and engaging volunteers in supporting the ward activities programme.Duties And Responsibilities To plan, organise and co-ordinate the Ward Activity Programme, including thetimetabling and delivery of group or individual activities in line with ward andtherapy timetables. Be innovative in creating an engaging and varied suite of therapeutic activitiesincluding arts, music, reminiscence therapy and physical activities. EngagePage 2proactively with third sector organisations and external partners to develop avariety of activities. Build a therapeutic relationship with patients, relatives and carers to encouragetheir interest and participation in activities suited to their particular needs andinterests, promoting independence and well being. Manage the timetabling and delivery of group and individual activities workingflexibly including evening and weekends where required in line with the patientstherapeutic timetables. Develop links with specialist practitioner i.e. dementia specialist nurse andlearning disabilities specialist nurse to develop bespoke activities for individualpatients with specific needs, and tailored programmes for groups of patients withspecific conditions. Work closely with therapy staff to design patient centred activities to complementand contribute to patients therapeutic programmes. Provide support to other professionals by actively engaging with patients to assisttheir participation, for example during 1:1 or cohort supervision.MFT is England’s largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.5bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
