Purpose of the Role

To undertake preparation of statutory financial statements, outsourcing functions at clients and preparation of statutory accounts, ensuring deadlines and proper accounting standards are met.


Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with relevant financial reporting standards from books and records maintained by MHA MacIntyre Hudson or the client.
  • Prepare accounting schedules to support the balances and transactions included in the financial statements.
  • Check the work completed, produce review points for junior staff, monitor clearance of queries to ensure it is presentational and technically correct.
  • Calculate more complex areas for sets of accounts completed by junior members of staff.
  • Prepare accounts from records and produce set of financial statements.
  • Produce a short summary on key client issues and the contents of the accounts before passing to the Partner/Director/Senior Manager/Manage
  • Adhere to proper accounting standards.
  • Meet deadlines and time budgets.
  • To assist clients to process financial information.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to clients in relation to financial reporting matters.
  • Complete each assignment as far as possible before passing to the manager for review.
  • Develop and maintain good client relations.
  • Liaise with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queries or obtain further information.
  • Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations.
  • Ensure that all hours worked on assignments are correctly recorded.
  • Make timely and relevant recommendations in relation to accounting matters, financial reporting and accounting systems in use (including software).

Qualification and Skills required

  • Two years + experience in an accounting practice.
  • Experience with demonstrable knowledge of producing year-end financial statements, management accounts and completing VAT returns.
  • Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel, to an intermediate level, for the production of letters and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
