Job Description*
Role summary: *
The role of the Accounts Assistant is to provide daily support to the Training and Development team on financial and commercial matters, as well as acting as a key point of contact for the head office Finance team.
Under the direction of the Global Head of Training & Development, the Accounts Assistant will be tasked with a number of finance related tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash management, budgeting and reporting.
This is a part-time position (30 hours per week).
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of all training courses delivered and number of students attending each one
  • Liaise with head office Finance Department to ensure that training courses and other revenue generating activities are invoiced accurately and on a timely basis, in accordance with month end reporting deadlines
  • Ensure that all customer invoices have the correct PO/Contract number applied
  • Work closely with head office Finance Department to collect debt from customers before it becomes overdue
  • Ensure all students who book on a course via the website are captured and reconcile the revenue with head office
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers of services and perform due diligence if required
  • Work closely with head Finance Department to ensure that supplier invoices are coded correctly within the finance system
  • Maintain petty cash records and ensure that reconciliation is completed and returned to head office Finance Department in accordance with month end reporting deadlines
  • Work closely with the Director of Education to capture accrued revenue and accrued expenses each month, share this information with the head office Finance Department and keep them informed when such accruals can be released
  • Attend and contribute to monthly reviews of the Profit and Loss account, along with management and Finance team
  • Assist in the preparation of capital expenditure requests and research the market for best value suppliers
  • Support management with the preparation of budgets and forecasts as required
  • Attend weekly Finance team meetings and establish self as main point of contact for all reporting or finance related tasks
  • Be a ‘culture carrier’ for Iqarus. This includes creating a culture of excellent communications to management and to team members, empowering team members to become thought leaders and encouraging cross collaboration amongst the teams to achieve the business strategy.

Qualifications*
Qualifications & Experience: *

  • Financial experience – including the ability to interpret financial accounting and articulate this at regional level.
  • An educational background would be desirable.
  • Experience of working in a multinational and multicultural environment in a finance role, developing a business unit and delivering significant additional value to the organisation.
  • Experience of writing and clearly communicating the efficacy of these to senior management, including successful implementation.
  • Experience of working in industries operating in fast paced, high-risk environments
  • Experience of accrual accounting and identifying trade debtors at the earliest opportunity.
  • Good knowledge and experience in the ISO compliance series
  • Qualification in AAT/MAT

Key Skills:

  • Experienced user of a Financial ERP system (SAGE would be preferable).
  • Problem solving and thinking of alternate options to achieve success.
  • Development and strong execution of projects.
  • Communication: Highly motivated and strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • An excellent customer service attitude and the ability to interact with customers in a professional manner are required. A flexible approach to deliver the right service to clients regardless of location or timescale is expected and this will involve an element of international travel.
  • Organised, structured approach with the ability to seamlessly alternate between strategic and operational functions.
