We currently have an exciting opportunity available to join our Finance Department as an AccountsAssistant based at our Castle Street HQ. This will be a part-time, permanent position, and in return you will receive a competitive salary and benefits.

Hours: 20 hoursperweek

Salary:£13,026.57 p.a.

Job Status: Permanent


Work Pattern: Monday to Friday (9am-1pm)

Purpose of Job:


To make an effective contribution to the efficient operation of the Finance Department by carrying out allocated tasks in accordance with established financial and administrative procedures, especially in relation to those concerning banking.


Main Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Processing monies received according to procedures, ensuring that appropriate recording and checking systems are applied accurately within specific timeframe
  • Dealing with all cash expenditure: Control of HQ Petty Cash and re-imbursement of Establishments/projects petty cash floats, checking receipts and cash advances
  • Preparation of cash expenditure sheets and posting detail to nominal ledger within computerised finance system
  • Preparing and processing manual cheques according to agreed procedures
  • Applying payments relating to direct debits/standing orders on open accounts. Match payments on purchase ledger and complete and import spreadsheet relating to other expenditure
  • Process fundraising donations and deal with the process of claiming gift aid
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy, safe, and productive working environment
  • Reception cover on a daily basis for one hour
  • Carrying out any other duties which may occur from time to time provided they are reasonable and within the post holders’ capabilities, including the provision of cover/assistance for colleagues in the Finance Department

Qualifications/Training/Education:


Essential:

  • English – SCQF Level 5 or Nat 5 or equivalent

  • Maths/Arithmetic – SCQF Level 5 or Nat 5 or or equivalent

  • Excel - Intermediate

Desirable:

  • Higher grade, or equivalent, passes in English and Maths.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Cash Handling
  • Use of Computerised Accounts system
  • Experience of working to deadlines in a busy accounts office

Key Skills/Aptitudes:


Essential:

  • Must be able to evidence a high level of numeracy and accuracy
  • IT skills Excel (creating, amending spreadsheets)
  • Ability to cope well with busy workload
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with people
  • Well organised
