This is an exciting opportunity to work for local accounting practice. You will receive in-house training during your apprenticeship.

Duties will include:

  • Answering the phone and reading/sending emails to clients
  • Meeting and greeting clients when they come into the office
  • Providing refreshments to visitors, if required
  • Organising meetings
  • Minuting meetings
  • Photocopying, scanning and filing
  • Data entry, typing document and raising invoices
  • Ensuring that accounts are accurately monitored and recorded
  • Client engagement
  • Be able to work under own initiative and having the ability and willingness to acquire job related knowledge through self-development and by learning from others
  • Providing excellent customer services to our clients, through incoming and outgoing calls, emails and face to face meetings
  • Processing receipts, sales invoices and payments
  • Maintaining financial records which accurately record the business’ incoming and outgoing finances
  • Completing VAT return forms
  • Ensuring that accounts are accurately monitored and recorded
  • Dealing with a company’s payroll by processing wages and employee expense claims

Using VT Software to complete end of year accounts, assistance with independent examination, PAYE, filling, charity registration, policies and governance, and other general duties needed as part of work in a small practice.

As part of your contract of employment completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme forms part of your duties as well as helping your personal and professional development; the requirements to complete the programme are as follows:

  • Attend and be punctual for all induction sessions
  • Attend and be punctual for all lessons with regards to your apprenticeship programme.
  • Complete all required assignments with regards to your apprenticeship by the required timeline.
  • Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going during your apprenticeship programme.
  • Access support from your tutor/assessor as and when required
  • Access support from your manager with regards to any evidence requirements or support as and when required
  • Attend all work-based training/support sessions

Desired qualifications

Future prospects

  • We would like the successful candidate to complete the AAT qualification and become a full member of AAT and work for us on full-time permanent basis
  • There is also the opportunity to complete a professional business qualification following successful completion of the apprenticeship and employment
