ACCOUNTANT

Office based role: Paddock Wood, Kent

LIGHTWORKS have provided Architectural lighting solutions for a wide variety of project applications for the last 23 years. We assist the design community realise their visions in a wide range of project applications. We are looking for an experienced professional to take sole responsibility of all accounting issues.

This role will suit an entrepreneurial and flexible candidate who has experience in a related sector.

Applicant should be a good communicator with a flexible attitude and a sense of humour.

Current financial systems include IRIS Exchequer which manages transactional, maintenance and various reporting options in excel.

Suitable applicant would ideally be a fully qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant but we could consider with a minimum of 5 years post–qualification experience.

Key candidate criteria:

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in the financial management of SME in a related business, mostly likely with a turnover up to £10M (Import/Export, Manufacturing, Contracting, Project Management, Maintenance services etc)
  • Providing monthly financial commentary, budgets and forecasting
  • Cash management and forecasting

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a monthly review of Balance Sheet reconciliations including Cash, Sales & Purchase Ledgers, Fixed Assets, Accruals + Prepayments, Stock and Work-in-Progress
  • Payroll currently outsourced
  • Preparation of Monthly management accounts
  • Cash flow management and calendar cash flow forecasting
  • Overall responsibility for banking and supplier payment routines
  • Credit control in accordance with our terms and limits negotiated with our Insurer.
  • Responsibility for fulfilling Statutory obligations, including closure and filing of Year End Accounts, VAT and Intrastat returns, Corporation Tax (currently calculated by external accountants) , PAYE submissions, Government statistics and all aspects of compliance.
  • Assistance with some minor HR topics from time to time
  • Review + negotiate insurance + pension premiums/compliance.

Working hours: 30+ hours per week Monday - Friday
