We are committed to finding the right person for this role and are flexible regarding sessions/days worked, encouraging professional development with the majority of our GPs having outside interests such as teaching at Medical School, NHS England Clinical Appraisal Lead role, joint Clinical Director of our PCN and Research & Innovation. In addition to this, five of our GPs are Educational Supervisors making Corner Place an extremely successful training practice.

Clinical Responsibilities:
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including face-to-face surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries , results, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.

Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.

Providing counseling and health education.

Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to Practice protocols.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).

We work collaboratively with our locality providing the Torbay Care Home Visiting Service, which was successfully developed and piloted by our Federation prior to the PCN.

This role would be equally attractive for a GP that has recently completed their training, as well as a more experienced GP. We are passionate about advancing Primary Care to meet the current and future challenges and strive to work in a manner that supports our doctors and is sustainable whilst providing high quality care. We want Primary Care to be enjoyable and vibrant. We have two experienced ANPs and one experienced paramedic as well as a Mental health team via the PCN who provide some appropriate mental health triage.

More recently, we have embraced change, adapting, and evolving through the Covid-19 Pandemic and have used these experiences to build a better service for our patients and GPs. Our sessions are a combination of triaged and face2face appointments, as well as continuing to utilise E-Consults and videos where appropriate. We do not run traditional duty surgeries but rather telephone triage is carried out in twos with one GP being reception hub doctor and one doctor seeing urgent extras in an afternoon and with support of all doctors after 4pm daily and our ANP undertakes most of our home visits. Our prescribing Pharmacist Team manages most medication queries and reviews, along with repeat prescription requests.

We aim to finish daily by 6pm and operate an ‘open door’ policy. We would welcome you to visit us for an informal chat and to see how we work. Please contact our either one of our Partners Dr Lowri Kew or Dr Manny Austin on 01803 841800 or by email,l.kew@nhs.netormanny.austin@nhs.net
