1st Line Service Desk Engineer
The UK’s largest privately-owned technology business is coming to Andover. In October 2019 we opened our new warehousing facility, which will double our UK warehousing space. We’re making a huge investment in both facilities and systems, also installing a new Warehouse Management System, committing to both the local area and our customers in the UK and Europe. Our Service Desk team are a friendly, user facing team resolving any IT related faults quickly and efficiently. As part of this expansion, we are growing our Service Desk team in this new location so they can continue to deliver a high standard of service to our users.
What is the role?
Working as part of a small team in our Andover distribution facility, and as part of a wider team based across our UK offices, you will triage and assign support calls – providing first line support for our users across the business.
How will you do this?
Using our ticketing system, Landesk, you will triage and assign support calls to the wider IT team. You will also provide first line support and aim to resolve IT issues for our users across a range of hardware and software issues.
You’ll be providing user support for:
Microsoft operating systems, including Office 365
Imaging, troubleshooting and fixing desktops, laptops and printers
Networking
Vendor software applications
User creations and AD management
The role is based at a site that is predominantly warehouse space so a large part of the role will be troubleshooting and dealing with hardware issues – Printers/PC’s/Scanners/Wireless AP’s/networking etc.
You’ll provide remote telephone support, as well as face-to-face support on site in Andover. Our service desk operates Monday – Friday during office hours.
Is this the role for you?
To be successful in this role you will have some of the following skills and experience and the desire to develop in other areas:
- Experience within a 1st line support role and using a ticketing system and remote tools
- Able to demonstrate strengths in hardware/infrastructure support
- Technical experience with Microsoft operating systems and O365
- Experience working with Active Directory
- An excellent communicator, able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users
- An organised and methodical approach to work, including record keeping
- Contributing to the knowledge base, and sharing knowledge with colleagues
