Blue Arrow Derby are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Healthcare provider, and we are currently looking to recruit a number of 111 Clinical Advisors for both full or part-time roles (days or evenings) to join their expanding team based at their Derby site.

Please note you must be a Registered Nurse, Paramedic or Pharmacist in order to be suitable for this role. This role will be based on site.

Training will be full-time (even if applying for the part-time role) for 6 weeks at either the Derby or Chesterfield site, and will be over weekdays and weekends.

About the Role

As a Clinical Advisor for the NHS 111 Service, you will be working as a key member of the team in a busy fast-paced environment. You will be providing safe, effective and patient focused care. You will be making a real difference to patients by utilising your broad clinical knowledge supported by decision support software to undertake telephone triage; assessing patient’s presenting symptoms, advising them on next steps and referring them on to further care when appropriate.

Salary - up to £43,426 (shift dependant)

  • Training/6 weeks new starter - £16.88 p/h
  • Days - £17.15 p/h
  • Evenings - £22.27 p/h
  • Weekends - £24.91 p/h (Friday 6pm to Monday 8am)

Hours
We have a number of part-time and full day and evening shift positions available including 4 on and 4 off. These will be based on different shift patterns that will be between Mon-Sun, and include working 3 out of 4 weekends and 6 out of 8 bank holidays. They will be between the below times, so you must be flexible to work during any of these times and days if needed.

Days & Evenings
Positions available for 15, 18, 22.5, 24, 30 and 37.5 hours per week between 07:00 -22:00 (weekdays & weekends)
4 on 4 off
Positions available for 21, 26.25, 31.5, 36.75 hours per week between the hours of 06:00 - 18:00 (days) and 12:00 - 24:00 (evenings)

Rotas’ are advised up to 4 weeks in advance - a breakdown of exacts days will be shown to you during the interview process.

Essential Requirements
  • Significant experience of working with the general public
  • You must hold a full nursing or paramedic or pharmacist qualification and be registered with the NMC/HCPC/GPhC
  • Previous experience of working within A&E is desirable
  • Excellent IT / computer skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to be proactive and have good use of initiative
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Organised and reliable
  • Work well individually and as part of a team
  • Work quickly and accurately under pressure

Duties will include:
  • Taking and dealing with telephone calls that have been escalated from the Health Advisors
  • Resolving difficult calls / situations
  • Dealing with different priority calls from members of the public
  • Communicating with a wide range of people including patients, relatives and representatives, colleagues, appropriate staff in local primary and secondary care services, social services, ambulance services and out of hours and other related services within the local health economy.
  • Delivering excellent customer service
  • Dealing with a range of patients medical queries including urgent medical assistance
  • Logging calls and updating information in the system in a timely and efficient manner using the in-house NHS Pathways software
  • Dispatch an ambulance in the case of an emergency or refer onto, or provide, information about other available services.

Assessment & Interview Process
The interview process will include of a successful online agency registration, and then a telephone interview. Interviews are conducted every Monday’s and Tuesday’s and are usually around 30-60 minutes.
If you have been successful compliance checks (including 2 years referencing), qualification checks, an Enhanced DBS checks (Child and Adult Workforce) and Medical Assessments will then be conducted. Please note this stage can take up to 6 weeks to be completed and you are not able to start until they have been.
Once the above has been successful, you must be available for 6 weeks full-time to complete the required training at Derby or Chesterfield.

If you are unable to commit to any of the above application stage, unfortunately your application will be unsuccessful.

The Commute
Located in Pride Park, Derby. This location would suit anyone with their own transport in Derby or the surrounding areas. The site is also easily commutable to via bus services, as there are bus stops a short walk from the site, and Derby train station.
