The Role

We are seeking a 1:1 Sensory Mentor for Key Stage 3&4. As a

1:1 Sensory Mentor you will be part of an intervention service

offering a range of programmes and bespoke packages to meet the

needs of vulnerable children and young people with Special

Educational Needs. As a 1:1 Sensory Mentor your goal will be to

give every child the opportunity to discover their unique

strengths, identify their hopes and to empower them to shape their

future. As a 1:1 Sensory Mentor you will work in partnership with

schools and social care across Bishop Auckland and offer 1-2-1

programmes in teaching, mentoring and outdoor learning to those

children who are struggling to thrive and need additional support.

You will support the children to be empowered to realise their

potential by helping them to raise their aspirations, build

resilience and guide them towards a positive future. Each programme

you deliver as a 1:1 Sensory Mentor will be in a safe and friendly

environment.

The school

The specialist schools cater for students with social or

emotional issues. The school offer brilliant facilities and

resources to help give every child an opportunity to learn and

develop. Most schools we work with have excellent public transport

links, but access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Requirements

To be considered for the 1:1 Sensory Mentor role you must:
  • Experience Tutoring online or face to face would be
beneficial
  • Hold a driving licence, which would be preferred, but not
essential.
  • A DBS Certificate is an advantage but not essential; this can
be arranged.
  • Confident de-escalating challenging situations. Training would
be an advantage but not essential.

take our responsibilities extremely seriously. All staff we

register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing

checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check

that must be registered on the Update Service.
