We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of critical systems, we would love to hear from you.
Position Overview
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Usay Compare, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our technology stack. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to build, maintain, and optimize our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern cloud technologies, automation, and best practices in site reliability engineering. While not necessary, software engineering experience is highly desirable.

- A guaranteed basic salary of £60k - £80k, depending on experience.
- Work from home role (Office visit required on occasion – must be able and willing to travel to GL7 5XZ)

- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Manage and optimize Kubernetes (k8s) clusters for efficient resource utilization and high availability.
- Administer and maintain Linux-based systems and virtual machine workgroups.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Ansible and Terraform.
- Monitor and improve the performance of web servers, including Apache and Nginx.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless deployment and operation of PHP-based applications.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Github and Bitbucket.
- Develop and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and logging systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the entire stack.
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations and industry best practices.
- 10+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with GCP and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure is highly desirable but not necessary.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of web server administration, including Apache and Nginx.
- Experience with PHP application deployment and management.
- Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Github and Bitbucket.
- Experienced in using Jira and working in an agile way such as scrum (3 years).
- Experience of working with WAF technologies.
- Experience of using and implementing New Relic
- Database knowledge such as MySQL is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- FCA regulatory knowledge is a plus.
- Software engineering experience is highly desirable but not necessary.
