Job Description

At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we’re committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success. We have also learned over the past 15 months that working life doesn’t always have to in the office, and when it’s safe to do so, we will be introducing a hybrid way of working to encourage a healthy work life balance. The successful candidate for this role will be in the office 3 days per month on average.

We see it as the best of both worlds: structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.

Digital Insight Analyst

Due to team expansion we are actively seeking someone to join Hiscox UK’s Marketing team and provide analysis, insight and performance evaluation of Hiscox’s e-commerce and online marketing service offering. You will be the go-to person for the analysis, query and interpretation of online performance and user behaviour to drive e-commerce optimisation.

We are convinced that by having a dedicated expert sitting across our entire e-commerce estate, mining the data for opportunities, we will super-charge our online performance. Is that expert you?

You will be a person who likes to get things done, you want to have an impact and won’t be the sort of person who waits to be asked; driven by your own sense of restless curiosity you will always want to do better.

As you’d expect, there are some specific capabilities you will need:
  • Google Analytics – expert – GA IQ qualification a benefit. You will need to demonstrate both your expertise and clear, practical evidence of where you have driven actionable insight that has delivered quantifiable business performance impact
  • To get the most from GA, you really need to know tagging – so expertise here is also key – we use Google Tag Manager for tag management
  • You’ll be obsessed about Insight that drives change – but wouldn’t dare executing change without it being proven – we use Google Optimize for A/B testing - experience of strategies and analysis will be key
The above might sound like an ambitious wish list; but we’re an ambitious bunch at Hiscox. In addition to the above – you’ll easily convince us that you have strong business acumen – that you can show how you’ve helped other businesses optimise performance, be that media strategy, UX, or CRO.

So having great experience of the tools is one thing – what do we expect you to do with them?

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and managing tools to improve customer insight across our different digital channels and customer segments, and measure success.
  • Supporting the UX team members with our testing programme; support/help with creating A/B experiments etc.
  • Developing existing reporting and processes through automation that highlight key KPIs and metrics, surfacing data about our customers and value that we are delivering. You’ll constantly be on the lookout for new and innovative ways of sharing and presenting actionable insights with key stakeholders and the wider business to enable product decision
  • Provision of accurate, available and timely output in order to support our e-commerce communities, highlighting opportunity for marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with the Digital stakeholders to understand their analysis and insight requirements, continually evolving the offering to meet their changing requirements.
  • Supporting the business in better understanding customer journeys by continuously measuring (both online and movement offline) and analysing the funnel to identify points of conversion and friction to understand past and future performance and feeding this back as actions and recommendations to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Work with agency partners, IT and Data teams to enhance reporting and performance measurement and conduct detailed analysis work when required.
  • Working with agency partners and IT to debug, prioritise and escalate analytics defects. Making sure we’re capturing the right data, in the right place, at the right time and tracking that through from the end customer journey in to our platforms/systems.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of the digital data set used within the business.
  • Champion the use of digital data and the importance of online measurement & performance optimisation within the Marketing team and wider business, including assisting in workshops and presentations.
  • Undertaking ad hoc analysis and creation of customized reporting to address specific under performance.
  • Develop understanding of the business to identify opportunities for adding further value through analysis and better exploit the data sets available. Collaborate with other functional teams, to deliver on key reporting and analytics projects.
You Key Competencies Will Include
  • A passion for all things data, not only generating the insights but also presenting them back in a compelling way.
  • Comfortable with using data to communicate a story, using data as a ‘means to an end’.
  • Ability to prioritise the most useful data and data sets over the non-important in a fast paced work environment.
  • Hands on data analytics skills utilising the tools (or equivalent) listed above – GA expertise non-negotiable; SQL a bonus
  • Experience in building data visualisations, dashboards and reports for a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Having worked in an Agile environment previously, not being phased by working in a more iterative fashion.
  • Experience of working with a range of teams on ad hoc analysis requests, centralised and larger projects.
  • Ideally have experience in Financial Services/regulated industry.
  • A minimum of 3 year relevant experience
  • Fluent English speaker
