The Position
You will be responsible for leading the Corporate Affairs and Communications Strategy for our products, fostering cross functional collaboration with other functions to meet the corporate needs. Serving as an ambassador for the company you will be responsible for strengthening the overall UK Corporate Affairs position.
Your responsibilities will include the development of a 3 to 5-year strategic plan for the function that aligns functional objectives with the local business unit and corporate direction; identifying opportunities to shape policy to support this strategy.
You will plan and manage the resources of the directorate to meet short- and long-term needs, identify and develop strong relationships with all key stakeholders and promote the visibility of Novo Nordisk amongst key Government, NHS and industry influencers in order to enhance our corporate image and ensure we are viewed as a credible partner in the challenge to improve patient outcomes.
You will manage the delivery of the day-to-day objectives of the function by ensuring the team is fully engaged behind the plan and clear on their contribution and responsibility including adherence to compliance with quality systems and procedures.
Together with, or in place of, our UK General Manager you will represent Novo Nordisk at key external events which may include government, NHS and ABPI related activities.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level, preferably in health sciences, economics, or business-related qualification. It is essential that you have extensive knowledge of the UK healthcare system and its regulation, together with a deep understanding of Healthcare and Policy environment.
In your previous senior positions, you will have gained broad leadership experience; steering commercial, business or medical teams to work in a cross functional way, ideally across large and diverse teams.
A strategic thinker with the ability to analyse complex issues and implement tactical plans, you will be experienced in change management and stakeholder management.
From a technical perspective you will have a thorough understanding of UK Government health care policy development and the NHS. Experience in our key therapy areas of Diabetes, Rare Disease and Obesity is highly desirable but not essential.
This job will require travel within the UK, Europe and internationally on a regular basis.
About the Department
Following a recent change of structure, the Director of Corporate Affairs will lead a newly formed department, created to elevate the focus of the function within the UK. The team comprises 5 direct reports and 9 FTE in total for the department, to include government affairs, external relations specialists, and communications (both internal and external). You will report to the General Manager UK and be a key member of the UK Leadership Team.
