About the team
The “Car Rental Platform” teams at Booking.com create, maintain and improve the backend services that our frontend teams and our partners use which form the backbone of our business. This goes from pricing to promotions to partner platform and web gateway teams.
The role of a Product Manager within the team is to:
- Be the domain expert from a product perspective
- Set the vision, strategy and direction for the team
- Liaise with key stakeholders to understand what their needs are
- Ensure the team has well defined epics and stories to work against and that these are delivered to meet the needs
- Keep stakeholders up to date with progress
About the Role
Product Managers work with a product delivery team to drive the rapid and robust delivery of amazing products for our customers. We are looking for a highly motivated Product Manager who thrives in a fast paced, collaborative environment and lives to delight the customer.
You will be responsible for delivering product excellence and innovation within your product delivery team.
Where does this role sit in the company? You will be a part of the Trips Business Unit of Booking.com and work within the ‘Car Rental Platform’ Product Family (within which the Pricing team is located). As part of a tech company growing quickly, high performers can expect extensive opportunities for progression and development.
What will the role entail?
You will design, develop and implement products based on user needs and the company’s product strategy and vision. You’ll actively drive the product strategy and direction for the product area by deeply understanding user - and market - needs and by working closely with commercial, developers, analysts, researchers, product marketing managers, copywriters, designers and others.
We expect you’ll be deeply committed to understanding the pricing needs of our users and identifying opportunities to improve their experience. Collecting data will be necessary to inform product direction, whether in the form of competitive intelligence, or other business metrics.
This is primarily an individual contributor role, where it is possible to coach and mentor others depending on skills, experience, development plans and business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the product, becoming the domain expert and deeply understanding the user needs with regards to pricing and translating these needs into clear user stories.
- Work closely with engineering, data science and product design teams to define and ship high quality products at a fast pace that solve problems for our users
- Define the KPIs for the product, and be responsible for its success.
- Demonstrate the impact of your team’s changes through A/B testing or other analytical methods.
- Create a compelling roadmap and vision that explains how the future will look like for our pricing products.
- Take ownership of gathering requirements and driving change by working with our commercial teams, your engineering team, other Product teams and various other stakeholders throughout the business.
- Elicit, analyse and document processes, workflows and models.
- Work with Product Teams to estimate backlog items and ensure optimal flow through the delivery process.
- Ensure that the appropriate solution governance, compliance and resilience is built into solutions.
- Adhere to the default principles for architecture, quality and non-functional requirements
- Contribute to the evolution of best practices of the department
Your skills and experience:
We are looking for a superb and enthusiastic Product Manager to work on our Pricing platform - You will be working with our product teams, architects and principals to shape the future of this core platform capability. We expect you to have a commercial knack, strong analytical skills, understand technology and be able to collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.
- You have at least 2 years experience working as a Product Manager in Pricing or related area
- You understand the basics of a commercial business and value driven pricing
- You are data-driven with robust analytical skills and base your decisions on facts rather than opinions
- You have understand the basics of a commercial business and value driven pricing
- You are tech savvy and know your way around API-driven products, system workflows and tools such as Kibana or Grafana.
- You get things done, you are self-motivated and results-driven with a “take charge” attitude to manage the full development cycle of a product.
- You are confident and capable of managing the expectations of and driving the conversation with a large set of strong willed stakeholders al all levels within the organisation
- You have ample experience of doing successful product discovery resulting in delivery.
- You are proficient in working within an Agile product-based organisation.
- You have the ability to simplify complex problems into component parts and evaluate and solve systematically.
