The newly created Department for Business and Trade brings together the business focused functions of the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for International Trade (DIT). Our joint expertise in trade and business provides us with a unique opportunity to unleash the power of UK businesses, reform regulation to reduce burdens and unlock post-Brexit freedoms.
We are expanding our Digital, Data, and Technology team to keep up with the rapidly changing world. As a new member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing a higher level of technical support. Your primary responsibility will be to provide day-to-day assistance to the IT Operations AV Services function. You will utilise your expertise to ensure that all team members and services receive the necessary support. Your commitment to delivering exceptional and collaborative service to all users will be crucial to your success. There may be instances where you need to work outside of regular business hours and travel overseas as required.
To excel in this role, you must possess a passion for supporting staff and colleagues while aligning with our overall strategy and directives. You will take a proactive approach to developing and sharing your skills with the IT Operations Team and our partners, enabling you to contribute actively to enhancing the services we provide continually.
In this post there is the potential to be required at times to travel overseas to support away trade negotiations.
The role will be based in Old Admiralty Building London, in the office 5 days a week and may require occasional travel to other DIT Offices.

Job description
Your responsibilities will be:
- Departmental AV Support: Resolve any issues with the AV kit installed in meeting rooms, make changes required to the AV systems in the room, and provide VIP service to ministers.
- Departmental Events and Meeting Support: Gather requirements, liaise and arrange testing with counterparts, liaise with DIT Security Teams to ensure risks are identified and mitigation measures are in place, provide platform AV training, set up AV kit to match customer requirements, troubleshoot AV issues and infrastructure issues, and assist with Teams Live for internal events.
- Trade Agreement Negotiation Support: Provide technical support during live sessions with international counterparts, provide platform training for new joiners, and work with OGD technical teams to ensure colleagues from OGD can join our Trade Agreement negotiations approved platforms when required.
- Liaising with Suppliers on General Meeting Room and Infrastructure Issues: Work with onsite subcontractors to identify issues and troubleshoot to ensure deadlines are met.
- You may be required to travel abroad to support international negotiations.

Essential Skills and Experience
You will need to have demonstrable skills and experience of:
- Experience supporting the day-to-day operations of the audio-visual function, troubleshooting infrastructure, IOS, WINTEL, and audio-visual issues.
- Ability to support staff with organisational wide Teams and WebEx events, deliver a high level of service and continuity, deal with incidents and escalations as appropriate, work with the organisation and our partners, investigate and perform evaluations and testing of new and existing solutions, and assist with site surveys and documents current site configuration and user requirements.
- Maintaining prompt and clear lines of communication with all parties, assuming responsibility and working autonomously in a professional manner, engaging in cross-team and departmental collaboration, taking responsibility for your actions and actively delivering a superior service, and ensuring proper processes are followed.
- Strong experience working with audio-visual technologies (WebEx, MS Teams, PEXIP) and applications, WINTEL, iOS, networking, infrastructure, end-user computing, and Microsoft technologies.
- Proven track record of supporting high-profile users, logical and creative approaches to problem-solving, coordinating with team members to resolve problems, effective verbal and written communication skills, and working with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions that meet user needs.

Salary is determined by performance at interview, within the range advertised. Candidates moving from another government department have the option to retain their current salary.

Appointments may be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences. Candidates who pass the bar at interview but are not the highest scoring will be held on a 12-month reserve list for future appointments.
