We are looking for a talented and focused individual to join the Corporate Governance Team as Corporate Governance and Engagement Officer, working to the Deputy Director of Corporate Services/Deputy Group Secretary. You will be educated to diploma level or equivalent and be able to demonstrate an ability to engage positively with colleagues from across the organisation, foundation trust members, governors, patients and members of the public. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Corporate Services/Deputy Group Secretary, you will contribute to the on-going development of standardised, high-quality corporate governance arrangements. You will develop and maintain internal and outward-facing information, specifically with respect to the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and FT membership, and act as the key point of contact for the board and committee papers’ portal and all relevant internal on-line systems. Your work will also involve supporting effective engagement arrangements that may include support with Annual Members’ Meeting, ‘Your Health Matters’ events, Open Days, Governor bulletins and elections, and utilising the Patient and Public Engagement Portal.
Main duties of the job
As an integral part of the Corporate Governance team you will support and respond to corporate priorities, provide high-quality administrative support to sub-Board committee meetings, produce high-quality minutes of meetings and act as the key point of contact for the board and committee papers’ portal.
You will have the ability to engage positively with colleagues from across the organisation, foundation trust members, governors, patients and members of the public. You will develop and maintain internal and outward-facing information. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post-holder will:
- work closely with the Deputy Director of Corporate Services/Deputy Group Secretary and Head of Corporate Governance, to ensure the on-going development of standardised corporate governance arrangements, that reflect best practice and maintain compliance with statutory requirements.
- work effectively as an integral member of the Corporate Governance team, supporting and responding to corporate priorities, providing high-quality administrative support to sub-Board committee meetings, producing high-quality minutes of meetings and acting as the key point of contact for the board and committee papers’ portal
- maintain and improve information published on internal and outward-facing webpages, specifically with respect to the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and FT membership.
- support preparation for Council of Governors’ meetings or workshops, as required.
- maintain an excellent working knowledge and ensure effective utilisation of all relevant internal on-line systems on behalf of the department.
- provide support, as required, to the facilitation of effective engagement arrangements. This may include the provision of support to the Annual Members’ Meeting, ‘Your Health Matters’ events, open days, Governor newsletter, bulletins and elections, Patient and Public Engagement Portal.
- maintain a strong and effective approach to high-quality customer service and responsiveness between the corporate governance department and other colleagues, departments, foundation trust members, patients and members of the public, governors and colleagues within key partner organisations.
- To act as the key point of contact regarding financial systems for the department ensuring all invoicing, and supplier relations are maintained to the highest standard.
Person specification
Essential
- Educated to diploma level or equivalent or at least two years’ experience in a governance-related role (A)
- Experience of working effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and members of the public, within and beyond area of work (A & I)
- Experience of producing accurate minutes of sub-Board meetings (A & I)
- Skills and experience of utilising on-line systems, web-pages, portals and video conferencing solutions (A & I).
- Experience of effective administrative procedures, including effective administrative support to committees (A & I)
- IT literate/keyboard/Microsoft Office skills
- Experience / qualification relevant to corporate governance
