The CGM Group is a family-run business, founded in 1985 and provides a complete service to both commercial and domestic customers. Operating throughout East Anglia, CGM Group has bases near King’s Lynn, Norwich, and Huntingdon, regularly traveling into Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk.


Due to continued growth, The CGM Group is looking to recruit an Assistant Operations Manager to complement the existing team at our office based in the Norwich area.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director the role is being offered full-time, permanent, Monday - Friday 7 am - 5 pm and will be predominantly field-based.


A full driving license is essential, Company vehicle is provided


What you’ll be doing.....


Through effective leadership, your role will be to assist the Operations Manager in the management of existing grounds maintenance contracts, with a view to taking full management responsibility for an agreed timeframe. Liaising with current and future customers, ensuring that all works are accurately quoted for and delivered to the standards expected by the client and the Company. Support the smooth running of the Depot including job and timesheet management daily to include obtaining updates on programs daily from the Grounds Maintenance Operatives.


Ensuring that budgetary requirements are met through effective working practices and staff management, minimising the risk of damage to persons, vehicles, machinery, and equipment. Make sure the Grounds Maintenance Operative are carrying out their daily checks and report back any defaults or consumables required for the next working day, completing all works via Ecolive in the correct way.


Work in accordance with CGM’s Health and Safety Policy, ‘Leading by Example’ to ensure that all employees of the organisation do the same.


Act as the point of contact for the Ground Maintenance Operatives within your teams to enable effective delivery of services and individual development as per the requirements of the business.


Effectively leading your teams to promote a stable work environment to continuously reduce labour turnover and maintain good attendance levels.


Meet with assigned clients regularly at agreed times either on your own or to assist the Operations Manager at more formal meetings, making sure that all sites are at a minimum being maintained to the specifications agreed.


Skills you’ll need...

  • 3 years Ground Maintenance experience
  • Minimum 1 years management experience
  • High energy and passion to meet with the growing success of the company and industry
  • The ability to organise, plan and manage your own time is essential
  • Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Be able to work independently and within a wider team
  • Knowledge of industry
  • Working knowledge of managing teams in a positive environment
  • Proven record in supporting business growth through sales
  • Ability to identify future opportunities and develop them to increased sales
  • Self-managing using own initiative
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • A coaching approach to people development
  • Horticultural knowledge
  • Full UK Driving Licence
