Job Description
Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2021.
Working hours are 4 days on, 4 days off, 10 hour shifts between 6am-8pm.
The Customer Service/Medical Lab Assistant is a Hybrid role combining both customer service duties and general day to day laboratory duties. Within your customer service duties you will be responsible for:
- Handling specimen queries efficiently via email or telephone.
- Sending out test results and daily metrics to the relevant teams.
- Communicating issues/problems to the relevant team or Manager.
- General administrative duties may also be required.
You will also be responsible for carrying out high throughput COVID Testing, working flexibly and communicating effectively to deliver results within contractual turnaround times and to the highest quality standards within the Eurofins site.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Processing samples for the presence of SARs-CoV-2 RNA using a range of specialist techniques and technologies. To include:
- Receipt and storage of samples
- Automated extraction and purification of nucleic acids
- Production of stock solutions and reagents
- Analysis and interpretation of results
- Reporting of results through a laboratory management system.
- Stock management
- Managing routine reagent and instrument validations to ensure that business as usual processing is not affected
- Involvement in the validation of new processes, technical improvement projects and implementation of new technologies.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Locally controlled documents are adhered to and seek to challenge procedures where there is an opportunity to improve.

Qualifications
- Customer Service experience, confident in handling difficult situations.
- A science degree is desirable.
- Previous laboratory experience desirable.
- Previous work experience within a high throughput, highly regulated laboratory desirable.
- Experience in automated equipment is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
